(PRESS RELEASE) LOUGHBOROUGH, 16-Dec-2021 — /EuropaWire/ — Loughborough University, a public research university and a UK top 10 University, has announced that Dr Ashleigh Filtness, a Senior Lecturer in Human Factors and Transport Safety, has been selected to be a part of the Foundation of Science and Technology Future Leaders 2022.

The Foundation for Science and Technology received over 120 applications from a huge range of organisations.

The Foundation Future Leaders programme brings together a cohort of 34 professionals. Over a 12-month period, the group meet and discuss with senior figures from government, parliament, universities, large industry, SMEs, research charities and others.

Future Leaders present their own expertise, develop skills and make future contacts. The programme includes external visits and the development of an annual conference for a wider group of mid-career future leaders in science, technology, research and innovation.

In speaking of her selection, Dr Ashleigh Filtness said: “I am looking forward to learning from and collaborating with leaders in academia, industry and civil service.

“My research work is in transport safety, with particular focus on driver impairment and policymaking. In order to reduce road trauma, it is vital that experts from across sectors work together.

“Through opportunities like this, we can build links and knowledge to enhance the future of UK science, technology, research and innovation.”
