WIESBADEN, Germany, 26-11-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — In 2013, the number of people in atypical employment decreased by 71,000 to 7.64 million compared with a year earlier. Based on results of the microcensus, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the number of people in atypical employment expressed as a proportion of the total number of persons in employment fell slightly to 21.4% (2012: 21.7%). The decline in atypical employment observed since 2012 thus continued.
Atypical employment is of particular significance for women. While only 11.7% of economically active men were in atypical employment, the corresponding figure for women was 32.5%.
