WIESBADEN, Germany, 26-11-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — In the winter semester of 2014/2015, the number of students who enrolled at German institutions of higher education has been higher than ever before. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports on the basis of first provisional results that the number of students at German institutions of higher education amounts to roughly 2,698,000 in the current winter semester. Compared with the winter semester of 2013/2014, the number of students has increased by 81,500 (+3.1%). However, the number of first-semester students who started studying at German institutions of higher education in the academic year 2014 has declined by 1.9% to 498,900 year-on-year.
