Destatis: The index of import prices fell by 2.2% on an annual average in 2014 compared with 2013

WIESBADEN, 28-1-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — The index of import prices fell by 2.2% on an annual average in 2014 compared with 2013, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). In December it decreased by 3.7% compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In November and in October 2014 the annual rates of change were –2.1% and –1.2%, respectively. From November to December 2014 the index fell by 1.7%.

In 2014 the index of import prices, excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, was on an annual average 1.5% below the level of a year earlier. In December 2014 it slightly increased by 0.1% compared to December 2013 and did not change in comparison with November 2014.

The index of export prices decreased by 0.3% on an annual average in 2014 from the previous year. In December 2014, it increased by 0.1% compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In November and in October 2013 the annual rates of change were +0.3%, each. From November to December 2014 the index fell by 0.3%.
