Pistoia, Italy, 01-10-2013 — /EuropaWire/ — The Fyra is a reliable train and, with the implementations made, can also face particularly harsh weather conditions, well beyond the applicable contractual requirements.
Belgorail, Belgian railway certification body authorized under EU law, has sent its final evaluation report on the mechanical modifications developed by AnsaldoBreda, called “winter modifications”, with the objective to improve the tightness of the V250 train in extraordinary winter weather conditions.
The Belgorail evaluation was requested by SSICF, “Service de Sécurité et d’Interopérabilité des Chemins de Fer”, Belgian nationalsafety Authority, in reference to the Belgian Ministerial Decree of the 30th July 2010 (“Arrêtéministériel du 30 juillet 2010”).
Belgorail confirms that the modifications meet the requirements of the Belgian law and reports that “it can be expected that these ‘winter changes’ improve the performance of the V250 rolling stock in case of operation in severe winter conditions.”
