AMAG Austria Metall Renews Multi-Year Supply Contract with Airbus, Expanding Market Share and Focusing on Sustainability

(IN BRIEF) AMAG Austria Metall AG has renewed its multi-year supply contract with Airbus. This contract renewal allows AMAG to increase its business volume due to rising aircraft production rates and a larger market share. AMAG will supply certified rolled aluminum products, mainly used for the structure and outer skin of all Airbus aircraft families. This partnership between AMAG and Airbus dates back to 1995, and over the years, it has grown with substantial investments in expanding manufacturing facilities. AMAG also focuses on sustainability in the aviation industry, working to reduce the carbon footprint of its products in line with Airbus’ sustainability goals.

(PRESS RELEASE) BRAUNAU AM INN, 11-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — The renewal of the existing supply contract with Airbus enables AMAG Austria Metall AG, due to rising aircraft production rates and a larger market share, to increase its business volume. In the coming years, the aluminum producer from Ranshofen will supply certified rolled products to Airbus, which will mainly be required for the structure and outer skin of all Airbus aircraft families.

AMAG and Airbus are connected by a long-term partnership that began with a supply agreement in 1995. Since then, delivery volumes have steadily increased thanks to the highest quality and reliability. A major contribution to this development have been the substantial investments in extending the plant at Ranshofen with a new rolling mill as well as the expansion of the foundry and recycling capacities.

Sustainability aspects are becoming increasingly important in the aviation industry. With a unique value chain from input materials through to ready-to-install components, AMAG makes a significant contribution to reducing the aviation industry’s CO2 footprint. Many years of experience in recycling and state-of-the-art foundry and rolling facilities in Ranshofen enable AMAG to minimize the carbon footprint of rolled products in line with future Airbus requirements. Likewise, in the area of aerospace components, there is further cooperation with Airbus, which by closing material cycles, contributes to the fulfillment of sustainability targets.

“We have succeeded in strengthening our market position with our most important aerospace customer over many years by providing reliable deliveries of quality products. This gives us the opportunity to continue the growth path taken by Airbus with new, innovative and sustainable products from state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities”, said Gerald Mayer, CEO of AMAG Austria Metall AG.

This year, Airbus presented AMAG with two awards, which are indicative of the professional cooperation: The “Accredited Supplier” award is the highest of four quality awards that the European aircraft manufacturer bestows on its suppliers. This also makes AMAG currently the only supplier of rolled products that has been awarded at this highest level (AMAG once again receives the “Accredited Supplier” Award from Airbus / AMAG (amag-al4u.com). In March, AMAG components received the D2P Challenger award from Airbus. D2P stands for “Detail Part Partners” and is a program for evaluating suppliers for detail parts, which takes place every twelve to 18 months. AMAG components has been a participant since 2016 and was named D2P Champion in the Challenger category in 2017 to 2019, 2021 and 2022 – these are companies that are highly important for Airbus and compete with the best machining companies in the world.
