Restructuring Initiatives Underway as Airbus Prepares for 2024

(IN BRIEF) Airbus is undergoing significant leadership changes, forming a Commercial Aircraft management team led by Christian Scherer. The leadership team will focus on addressing current operational challenges while also planning for future strategies. Effective January 1, 2024, the Airbus leadership team includes key figures, and the Commercial Aircraft management team will oversee crucial aspects of the business. The changes aim to position Airbus for a dynamic future while maintaining unity and shared values among leadership. The Airbus Executive Committee will consist of 13 members, with additional appointments forthcoming, and the new organizational structure will be established in collaboration with social partners starting in 2024.

The company is also introducing a dedicated Commercial Aircraft business management team led by Christian Scherer.

The roles marked with (*) have been proposed by the CEO and approved by the Board of Directors to form the Airbus Executive Committee, consisting of 13 members. The Executive Committee will support the CEO in managing Airbus and will be chaired by the CEO, comprising the heads of major functions and businesses.

Airbus plans to implement these organizational changes from January 1, 2024, in collaboration with its social partners, following discussions during a meeting of the European Works Council (SE-WC) on October 12, 2023. Further appointments may follow as part of this restructuring process.
