Dornbirn, Austria / Tianjin, China, 30-7-2013 — /EuropaWire/ — In the course of growing its presence in the Asian market, the Zumtobel Group has completed the purchase of the remaining shares in Thorn Lighting Tianjin (Company) Limited. The share transfer has been officially registered on 22nd July 2013. The company has now become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Group which is instrumental for the implementation of the growth plans for this unit.
Thorn Lighting Tianjin (Company) Limited was founded in 1996 as a joint venture between Thorn and Tianjin Yanyu Investment Company Limited. The Zumtobel Group previously held a 70% stake in the company. Since its establishment, Thorn Lighting Tianjin has build up a remarkable base and reputation in Road and Tunnel lighting in Asia with many reference projects inside and outside of China. In the recent Guangzhou fair and exhibition more than a dozen new LED products were introduced to underline the focus on innovation and energy savings of the company.
The organization of Thorn Lighting Tianjin comprises approx. 120 employees including sales, marketing, operations, R&D and labs. This structure allows Thorn to expand the business scope from road & tunnel lighting to all outdoor segments of the professional lighting market such as architectural outdoor lighting, amenity lighting and façade lighting. As well as serving the Asian market, Thorn Lighting Tianjin intents to also serve the global export markets of the Thorn organization.
