Vonage and Verizon Forge Alliance to Drive Network API Innovation

(IN BRIEF) Vonage, under Ericsson ownership, and Verizon, a leading US communications service provider, have announced a collaboration aimed at integrating Verizon’s network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) into the Vonage platform. This memorandum of understanding (MoU) signifies their joint effort to empower developers with access to network services and capabilities, fostering innovation and enabling the creation of advanced use cases for enterprises and consumers. By exposing network capabilities as APIs, the partnership seeks to unlock the full potential of 5G and future networks, facilitating transformative applications and enhancing customer engagement for businesses globally. Seckin Arikan, from Vonage, emphasizes the strategic importance of this collaboration in Ericsson’s vision to establish a global network platform business, while Srini Kalapala, of Verizon, highlights the value of expanding network capabilities through collaboration with partners like Vonage for the benefit of enterprises and consumers alike.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 9-Feb-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Network APIs are key to Ericsson and Vonage’s strategic goal of exposing the full programmable and intelligent potential of 5G and future next-generation networks by giving developers the tools to innovate, enrich applications, and create new advanced use cases for enterprises and their customers.

Exposing the network capabilities as APIs aims to deliver benefits to ecosystem partners – developers, enterprises and communication service providers – by capitalizing on network capabilities as well as potentially creating as-yet-unknown applications that can transform how businesses engage with customers.

ANOTHER KEY MILESTONE

Seckin Arikan, Head of Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) and Global Network Platform (GNP) Sales, Vonage, says: “Vonage’s collaboration with Verizon will represent another key milestone in the execution of Ericsson’s strategy to create a global network platform business by enabling the company to offer network APIs in the U.S. market.”

He adds: “With a mature platform in place, Vonage is uniquely positioned to aggregate Verizon APIs into an intuitive and consumable format that can be readily adopted by developers. Together with frontrunner operators such as Verizon, Vonage is excited to bring new, next generation network APIs to market.”

Srini Kalapala, Senior Vice President of Technology and Product Development, Verizon, says: “As we evolve our API journey, we welcome collaboration with companies like Vonage who share our passion to make network capabilities available to developers for the advancement of the connected world. Working with global partners to make network capabilities available on a wider scale will provide exceptional value for enterprises and consumers.”
