(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 7-Feb-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — The latest US Chamber of Commerce Global Intellectual Property Index has just been published and UK, again, comes 2nd in the ranking.
The US Chambers of Commerce Global IP index compares 50 jurisdictions globally and looks into factors that ensure businesses can obtain, exploit and enforce IP rights.
This recognition demonstrates that UK has one of the most sophisticated intellectual property (IP) environments and effective enforcement in the world. This is highlighted by the work of UK’s specialist crime unit and cross-industry and government cooperation.
The report is also taking a note of the challenges that UK is facing due to its withdrawal from the European Union (EU). On the other side the report does also note how supportive the UK’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to the business is by providing comprehensive information through its publications on the IP in relation to the BREXIT. Right after UK, the 2nd for Europe and 3rd in overall in the 2019 IP Index comes Sweden. Other European countries in the report include France (#4), Germany (#5), Ireland (#6) and The Netherlands (#7). Out of the top 10 in this year’s IP Index 7 are European countries.
The 2019 U.S. Chamber International IP Index highlights the IP as the driving force behind the transformative growth of innovation and creativity in global markets. The 2019 Index, already in its 7th edition, demonstrates how effective IP protection fuels economic growth, global competitiveness, and the creation of 21st century knowledge-based economies.
