SAN SEBASTIÁN, 06-Jul-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — The Gamesa DreamFooters team, made up of 15 children from underprivileged regions of India, are going to play in the Donosti Cup international football competition due to take place in San Sebastián between 3 and 9 July.
These young players will leave their home country for the first time to participate in this tournament for which a total of 525 teams of children from all over the world have signed up. During the two months running up to the tournament, the DreamFooters players have been getting ready with demanding training sessions and nutrition programmes.
The players were chosen from the nearly 1,000 youths who participated in the Gamesa Soccer League competition organised by the company this year, along with Indian NGO Slum Soccer, under the scope of its social action plan.
Under this programme, which runs for one year, underprivileged youths attend a football training campus at which they not only hone their football skills but also receive education about healthy eating habits and environmental care. The goal is to change their lives through sport by boosting their self-confidence and fostering a healthy lifestyle.
