TORINO, 17-Jul-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — The Abarth 124 rally scored an exceptional sporting result in the United States in the spectacular MT Washington Hillclimb, a nearly 8-mile (12-kilometre) long Pikes Peak style uphill race, with dirt stretches and breathtaking landscapes. American Kevin Wesley drove the Italian spider to win the Prepared category, ending with a resounding sixth place in the general ranking to demonstrate just how competitive the car is. The very diverse race course, which is extremely fast as a whole, enhanced the power and handling of the car and allowed its drivers to take the lead ahead of more powerful four-wheel drive competitors.
Excellent was also the result of the second Abarth 124 rally, driven by Sara Price, who led the women ending 38th in the general ranking.
The rear-wheel drive Abarth 124 rally handled itself very well also on the slippery dirt stretches giving show of controlled drifts and blistering acceleration. Born for rally racing, the car is discovering an excellent positioning in these races followed by crowds of enthusiasts in the United States and beyond as a result of the great dissemination of films and images on the web and on social media.
The event, which was held on Sunday, July 9, consisted of two timed runs. The ranking was determined by the best time scored by each driver.
