2-7-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — The 10 films selected for the 2013 Lux Prize were announced on Sunday at the 48th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Young and promising filmmakers and well known directors provide a good picture of the diversity and excellence of European cinema.
The official selection was presented by Oldrich Vlasak, Vice-President of the European Parliament, and Silvia Costa, member of the Committee on Culture and Education, together with two members of the Lux Prize selection panel, Karel Och, KVIFF, Artistic Director, and Jakub Duszynsky, Co-President of Europa Distribution.
The 10 films in the official selection for the 2013 Lux Prize (in alphabetical order) are:
A 16-member selection panel decides each year on the LUX Prize Official Selection and the Competition. The Official Competition includes three films witch will be announced at the Venice Days in Rome on 23 July. They will be screened in all 28 member states of the European Union during the “LUX Film Days” and subtitled in 24 official languages.
The winner, selected by a vote of the European Parliament, will be announced in December, in Strasbourg. The winning film will be made available for visually and hearing impaired people and promoted by the European Parliament.
