PARIS, 05-Nov-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — SUEZ announces the signature of 19 contracts in Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, and Costa-Rica. These contracts are part of the Group’s development drive in Latin America and the Caribbean, which account for 7% of its global turnover and represent over 7000 employees in 10 countries. With these new contracts, SUEZ strengthens its presence in water services management in large cities and develops in new markets of waste management and industry services. The Group also increases its geographic footprint by winning its first contract in Ecuador.
/ In Ecuador, SUEZ obtains a contract to improve drinking water distribution services for the 450,000 inhabitants of the city of Santo Domingo. This 10-year technical and commercial assistance contract, worth around €23 million, will improve the performance of the city’s drinking water distribution network. The Group will assist and transfer its know-how to the teams of the Municipal Public Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation of Santo Domingo (EPMAPA-SD) to ensure the continued supply of drinking water 24/7, reduce leaks in the network, and install water meters.
/ In Colombia, SUEZ signs its first contract in waste management. SUEZ already manages two water management concessions in Palmira and Cartagena, and will now be providing its technical expertise in waste management for the city of Bogota. This 18-month contract, worth €1.8 million, covers technical and administrative assistance for the teams managing the solid waste landfill which receives 6000 tons of waste per day. SUEZ will transfer its know-how to implement an action plan to bring this landfill into compliance with environmental regulations, optimize leachate collection networks and circulation at the site.
/ In Brazil, SUEZ continues to support the city of Sao Paulo in the optimization of the drinking water distribution networks and extends its activity to other municipalities in the State of Sao Paulo. For a total amount of around €8 million, the public organism in charge of water management, SABESP, has awarded SUEZ 3 contracts to improve the performance of the drinking water distribution networks in the North and East zones of the metropolis and for the city of Osasco. The Group will implement solutions adapted to each of these zones, including, for example, reducing leaks, installing water meters, and modernizing the water distribution infrastructures. A new business model is applied for the North zone of Sao Paulo and in the city of Osasco where SUEZ will operate in the framework of performance contracts linked to a leak reduction target of 500,000 cubic meters of water per month for these two zones.
/ On the continent, SUEZ, through its Water Technologies & Solutions division, continues to develop its activities for industrial clients, especially in the Oil & Gas and agri-food sectors:
