Štefan Füle welcomed the deal on Ljubljanska Banka (Slovenia-Croatia)

Brussels,  8-3-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle welcomed the news from Ljubljana and Zagreb that a mutually acceptable solution to the Ljubljanska Banka issue has been found.

“I consider this to be a good deal for both countries and good deal for enlargement. This is also a very good example how joint efforts in the area of good neighbourly relations bring benefits for both sides and provide basis to solve open issues.

It is the culmination of intense efforts by both countries. We congratulate Slovenia and Croatia on their commitment and willingness to find a solution. We are now looking forward to the formal adoption of the agreement.

The European Commission is confident that all Member States will ratify the Accession Treaty they have signed on 9 December 2011, in time for Croatia to join the EU on 1 July 2013.

Regarding Croatia’s accession preparations, the Commission is in the last phase of the preparation of the Spring Monitoring Report, which will be published at the end of March.”
