“I congratulate Prime Minister Zidan on the appointment of his new Government, following the approval of the General ational Congress.
This is another step forward by the Libyan people and authorities in the democratic transition. In the light of ongoing consultations among political groups, I call on all parties involved to ensure that the process of installing the new Government, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, is rapid and peaceful.
The EU looks forward to the new Government being fully operational and to developing close dialogue and cooperation with the new members of Government. We wish them every success in facing the challenges ahead.
The EU will continue to assist the Libyan people and stands ready to support the Government of Libya as it embarks on the next phase of the country’s transition process.”
