Gothenburg, Sweden, 08-Jul-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska has signed a contract with Västfastigheter for the second phase of the construction of the new Regionens Hus in Gothenburg, Sweden. The contract is worth about SEK 580M, which will be included in the order bookings for Skanska Sweden for the third quarter in 2016.
The agreement includes the construction of a new 22,000-square-meter building. Skanska also has an option on the redevelopment of the old Bergslagen Line station of 5,500 square meters. The contract will be implemented in extended collaboration with the client, so-called partnering.
The purpose of the new regional building is to co-locate parts of Region Västra Götaland’s 15 operations in Gothenburg. The project has high environmental standards for energy consumption and environmental impact and will be classified as Green Building Gold.
Construction will begin immediately and the building is expected to be ready for occupancy during the spring 2019.
Skanska is one of the largest project development and construction companies in Sweden, with operations in building and civil engineering as well as in residential and commercial development. The unit has about 10 000 employees. Revenues from construction amounted to SEK 27 billion in Sweden in 2015. Residential development sold about 2 200 new homes. Skanska also offers services in public-private partnerships.
