(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 16-Jan-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska (STO: SKA-B), a leading global project development and construction group, has announced it has signed an agreement with AB Kristianstadsbyggen, one of Sweden’s 25 largest municipal housing companies, with rental of apartments, parking spaces and premises in Kristianstads, to build six multi-family buildings with 137 apartments and three commercial premises in Östermalms Park, Kristianstad, Sweden. The agreement is worth about SEK 380 million (EUR 34 million) and will be included in the order bookings for Skanska Sweden in the first quarter of 2023.

This construction project is the second stage of a strategic partnership between Skanska and AB Kristianstadsbyggen to transform the old hospital area into an attractive new district with housing and a park. The partnership aims to create a sustainable district, placing great importance on reusing materials from previous demolitions such as brick for facades and granite for the outdoor environment. Additionally, there will be an investment in solar cells in the project.

The new houses will be between five and eight storeys and have a gross area of just over 14,000 square metres. Skanska will also be responsible for preparing the streets and park in the area.

This project demonstrates Skanska’s commitment to sustainable construction and their ability to transform underutilized areas into attractive and functional neighborhoods. The partnership with AB Kristianstadsbyggen allows both companies to create a positive impact on the community by providing new housing and a park for residents to enjoy.

Construction is planned to start in the second quarter of 2023 with completion in the first quarter of 2027.
