(IN BRIEF) Construction and development company Skanska has won a contract to build a science center for the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. The deal, worth $79.5 million, includes construction of a 38,000-square-meter multi-functional teaching and research facility, as well as renovation of the existing 3,000-square-meter science center. The center will house mathematics, computer science, kinesiology, and a new undergraduate program in design and engineering, promoting STEM initiatives. Construction begins in February 2023 and is expected to be completed by July 2025.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 6-Feb-2023 — /EuropaWire/ —  Skanska (STO: SKA-B), a leading global project development and construction group, has been awarded a contract to construct a science center for the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA. The deal, valued at USD 79.5 million (approximately SEK 830 million), will be recorded in Skanska’s US order bookings for Q1 2023.

The project includes the construction of a new 38,000 square meter multi-functional teaching and research facility, as well as the renovation of the existing 3,000 square meter science center. The new facility will provide a modern and inspiring learning environment, designed to meet the needs of the 21st-century student.

The science center will accommodate a range of programs, including Mathematics, Computer Science, Kinesiology, and a new undergraduate program in Design and Engineering. By bringing these programs together in a single facility, the College of William and Mary aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and promote STEM initiatives in the state-of-the-art laboratories and teaching spaces.

Construction starts in February 2023 and is expected to be completed by July 2025.
