Paris, 29-4-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — André Santini, former French minister, and currently Deputy and Mayor of Issy-les-Moulineaux, and Jean-Paul Herteman, Chairman and CEO of Safran, today inaugurated Safran’s new building in Issy-les-Moulineaux, just south of Paris. It is named after one of the founding fathers of Safran: Paul-Louis Weiller (1893-1993), a pioneer in the aviation industry and most notably President of Gnome & Rhône, one of Safran’s most important predecessor companies, with a history reaching back to the early 20th century.
The new Paul-Louis Weiller building groups Safran’s shared services centers, corporate departments and pooled functions. It marks a new step forward in Safran’s modernization drive, which kicked off three years ago with the creation of the shared services centers. These centers – covering purchasing, accounting, sustainable development, administration and payroll, IT and human resources – pool various resources and competencies shared by Group companies.
Through this consolidation, Safran underscores its commitment to valorizing its support functions, enhances overall performance and fosters a service-based culture.
The building is located near Safran’s headquarters in Paris, and houses about 1,000 employees from the Group’s former sites in Montrouge, Malakoff and Paris (Le Ponant, 15th arrondissement). Featuring a modern, highly functional design, the Paul-Louis Weiller building includes open working spaces, numerous meeting rooms, and special “rest & relaxation” areas. An electric bus shared with other companies based in Issy-les-Moulineaux provides shuttle service to Safran headquarters in Paris.
During the inauguration ceremony, André Santini said: “Issy-les Moulineaux clearly expresses its focus on innovation through our slogan, ’Issy the Audacious’. As one of the birthplaces of aviation in the early 20th century, the city has made innovation the engine of its economic development and enhanced quality of life. Today, we are one of the few cities in Europe to have more employees than the number of inhabitants. With this new Safran building just a stone’s throw from Safran Morpho, in the Seine Ouest ’Very High Environmental Quality’ neighborhood, Issy has passed a new threshold, and now has 72,000 employees, compared with 65,000 inhabitants!”
Safran’s Paul-Louis Weiller building is located at 46 rue Camilles Desmoulins, 92130 Issy-les-Moulineaux, France.
