Nokia Strengthens Cybersecurity Capabilities in Finland Through Strategic Partnership with Cinia

(IN BRIEF) Nokia and Cinia have partnered to strengthen the cybersecurity of Finland’s critical infrastructure by deploying an advanced DDoS protection solution. The collaboration introduces a managed security service model that combines Nokia’s AI-driven Deepfield technology with Cinia’s operational expertise to provide continuous monitoring and real-time threat mitigation. The solution enhances network visibility, improves resilience against complex cyberattacks, and supports the reliable operation of essential digital services. This initiative underscores the importance of robust cybersecurity measures in protecting national infrastructure and maintaining the stability of the digital economy.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 16-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Nokia has entered into a strategic partnership with Cinia to enhance the protection of Finland’s critical digital infrastructure through an advanced Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) defense solution. The collaboration introduces a new managed security service provider (MSSP) model designed to address increasingly sophisticated cyber threats and ensure the stability of essential network services.

Under this partnership, Cinia will deploy Nokia’s Deepfield-based DDoS protection technology to deliver a fully managed, round-the-clock security service. The solution integrates directly into network infrastructure, enabling real-time detection and mitigation of attacks while maintaining uninterrupted connectivity for customers relying on critical systems.

As a key operator of Finland’s digital backbone, including international submarine cable networks, Cinia requires robust and adaptive cybersecurity capabilities. Nokia’s Deepfield Defender leverages artificial intelligence and network-embedded analytics to identify and neutralize threats such as large-scale botnet-driven attacks. This ensures that vital communication services remain resilient in the face of evolving cyber risks.

The jointly developed solution combines Nokia’s advanced technology with Cinia’s operational expertise, resulting in a comprehensive approach to threat management. Customers benefit from continuous protection, improved network visibility, and enhanced reliability, supported by real-time insights into network behavior and anomalies.

Through advanced data correlation and analysis of IP traffic and network flows, the Deepfield platform provides Cinia with detailed, system-wide visibility. This intelligence is further enriched by broader internet context data, enabling more accurate threat detection and more informed operational decisions, including capacity planning and infrastructure optimization.

The partnership reflects a broader commitment by both companies to strengthen cybersecurity for national infrastructure. By integrating Nokia’s network intelligence capabilities with Cinia’s Network Operations Center and Security Operations Center services, the solution delivers a high level of operational readiness and responsiveness.

Jukka-Pekka Lithovius, Development Director at Cinia, highlighted that the collaboration enhances the company’s ability to deliver advanced protection services, ensuring that customer networks remain secure and reliable even as cyber threats become more complex. He emphasized the value of combining continuous monitoring capabilities with cutting-edge security technologies.

Jeff Smith, Vice President and General Manager of Nokia Deepfield, noted that the partnership reinforces Nokia’s focus on safeguarding critical infrastructure. He pointed out that integrating Deepfield solutions with Cinia’s managed services enables a powerful defense framework that supports the continuity and trust required for modern digital societies.
