Brussels, 11-12-2012 — /europawire.eu/ — It is with great satisfaction that I received the news of President Dalia Grybauskaitė of Lithuania being awarded the prestigious Charlemagne Prize in 2013.
Dalia Grybauskaitė has eminently contributed to the integration of the Baltic countries in the European Union and to the unification of our continent.
I also recall with great recognition the exceptional contribution that Ms Grybauskaitė, as a Member of my first Commission between 2004 and 2009, gave to the European project, in particular how she worked with strong and tireless determination to equip the EU with a budget fit for the challenges of the 21st century.
President Grybauskaitė has been leading Lithuania in an exemplary way and with great success through the economic and financial challenges of the last years. I address my warmest personal wishes of congratulation to the President.
