WROCLAW, 24-Oct-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — On October 17, LeasePlan Poland announced it will deliver 150 Nissan Leaf electric vehicles to the car-sharing programme of the city of Wroclaw, Poland, by the end of 2017. The cars will be available for public use from November 4.
Under the service agreement, LeasePlan Poland will deliver the electric vehicles, including financing and insurance, while Enigma – a partner of LeasePlan Poland – will oversee vehicle maintenance, the car-sharing app and day-to-day customer service. The 150 cars will be allowed to use Wroclaw’s bus lanes and be exempt from parking fees and restrictions. In addition, drivers using the new EV fleet will be able to use special parking places located throughout the city.
“We’re delighted to have partnered with Enigma and the City of Wroclaw on this exciting initiative,” said Artur Sulewski, Commercial Director at LeasePlan Poland. “This is not only the first major city car-sharing initiative in Poland, but also the first large-scale deployment of electric cars in our country. In addition, it’s a great proofpoint of LeasePlan’s commitment to achieve net zero emissions from our total fleet by 2030.”
Sustainability strategy
As part of its commitment to achieve net zero emissions from its total fleet by 2030, LeasePlan has defined a new sustainability strategy. Key focus areas include: educating customers on What’s next in low-emission vehicles; facilitating the uptake of low-emission vehicles with attractive customer propositions developed by the LeasePlan Electric Vehicle Experience Centre; leading the development of a sophisticated second-hand car market of well-maintained, high-quality lease vehicles; and transitioning LeasePlan’s own employee fleet to an electric vehicle fleet by 2021.
