Augsburg, 13-2-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — KUKA AG’s Systems division has landed a major order from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). The job is valued in the mid-double digit million euro range. The project comprises the engineering and installation of a roof brazing line, a door and a hood assembly line. By using KUKA Robospin, a special welding system developed and patented by KUKA, seventeen KR QUAN-TEC robots for laser and spot welding will be employed. KUKA’s TableTop hem-ming technology will also be incorporated into the new line. The order was booked in the fourth quarter of the 2014 fiscal year.
“With high-tech products such as flexible systems for laser welding and Robospin as a reliable process for aluminum spot welding, KUKA emphasizes the high de-gree of automation in this system,” says Frank Klingemann, CEO of KUKA Sys-tems GmbH.
“We are pleased to have been able to win the customer’s confidence with our products”, comments Dr. Till Reuter, CEO of KUKA AG. “This order is a distinction for our innovative technologies which are in use around the world”.
