Manchester, 12-3-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — The Co-operative Food has appointed Kris Nayak as Head of Business Acquisitions and Strategy: Food.
Kris, a keen runner who lives in Chorlton, Manchester, with his wife and three children, has spent 20 years working in M&A, strategy and innovation, and joins The Co-operative from Astra Zeneca’s Strategy and Innovation Team.
Reporting in to the Head of Portfolio Strategy Acquisitions and Disposals Stuart Hookins, he will be primarily focused on driving business acquisitions, large portfolio acquisitions and developing new creative ways to grow the Food business, as well as strategic alliances, partnerships and single site acquisitions.

The Co-operative has announced plans to open over 100 new stores in 2014, on both a leasehold and freehold basis, between 2,000sq ft and 4,000sq ft net sales area, particularly in high street and local community locations and with a focus on London and the south east.
