LUXEMBOURG, 27-Jul-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — By letter dated 17 May 2017, the European Commission nominated Ms Kerstin JORNA for appointment as a Full Member of the Board of Directors of the EIB to succeed Mr Gerassimos THOMAS, who had tendered his resignation.
By letter dated 24 May 2017, the Board of Governors was invited to vote on the proposed appointment.
The decision to appoint Ms Kerstin JORNA was taken on 9 June 2017, the date on which the requisite majority of Governors’ votes was reached.
The term of office of Ms Kerstin JORNA will expire in 2018 at the end of the day either of the Annual
Meeting or of the approval of the financial statements for the previous financial year, whichever is the later.
Ms JORNA is currently Deputy Director General within the DG Economic and Financial Affairs (ECFIN). She studied law in Bonn and Hamburg and holds a Diploma of Advanced European Studies from the College of Bruges.
