PARIS, 27-7-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — Virginia Railway Express (VRE) has granted Keolis Rail Services Virginia a five-year contract extension for the operation of the commuter rail services in northern Virginia (near the Washington DC metropolitan area).
The contract, which includes rolling stock maintenance, is worth just over US$100 million for the entire term.
Keolis has operated VRE trains since 2010, during which time customer satisfaction of overall crew performance has risen sharply to 92%. VRE serves 18 stations on its two-line network and operates 29 services a day with average weekday ridership of 19,000.
