Iconic pop art prints on display at the University of Kent during May and June

KENT, 17-May-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Iconic pop art prints from the 1960s and 1970s – including those from Peter Blake and Eduardo Paolozzi – will be on display at the University of Kent during May and June.

Other artists featured in the exhibition, entitled P is for Pop, P is for Print: A British Phenomenon – include Derek Boshier, Patrick Caulfield, Harvey Daniels, Richard Hamilton, Patrick Hughes and Allen Jones.

The exhibition, which is free and open to all, takes place from 18 May to 15 June at the University’s Studio 3 Gallery in the Jarman Building at its Canterbury campus. Opening times are 11.00-17.00 Monday to Fridays. It is closed on Bank Holidays.

In all, the exhibition will feature more than 35 prints and has been curated by undergraduate students on Kent’s Print Collecting and Curating course.

It represents the seventh event hosted by the Kent Print Collection within the University’s School of Arts. Established in the summer of 2005 with the acquisition of fourteen prints by leading figures in the history of printmaking, the Kent Print Collection is an ongoing experiment in collecting: uniquely only undergraduate students are allowed to buy works of art for the collection.

Pop art remains one of the most universally appreciated movements of the modern day. Drawing on the support of leading galleries, artists and collectors, P is for Pop, P is for Print: A British Phenomenon offers a great selection of prints documenting the achievements of British Pop Art and its legacy.
