Sentinel Dock & Door Joins ASSA ABLOY as Entrance Systems Division Expands Canadian Footprint

(IN BRIEF) ASSA ABLOY has acquired Sentinel Dock & Door, a Canadian commercial dock and door service company headquartered in Ontario with nationwide coverage and around 375 employees. Founded in 1983, Sentinel has built a strong service-oriented business and will become part of Business Segment Industrial within ASSA ABLOY’s Entrance Systems Division. The acquisition strengthens ASSA ABLOY’s direct channel presence in Canada, particularly in service, and expands its footprint in a mature market. Sentinel generated sales of approximately MCAD 137, or around MSEK 960, in 2025 with a good EBIT margin, and the transaction is expected to be accretive to earnings per share from the start. The deal supports ASSA ABLOY’s broader strategy of adding complementary products, solutions and service capabilities to its core access solutions business.

The acquisition supports ASSA ABLOY’s strategy of growing in mature markets by adding complementary capabilities that reinforce its core access solutions offering.

Founded in 1983, Sentinel has developed into an established service-oriented business with nationwide coverage in Canada. The company is headquartered in Ontario and employs around 375 people. Its operations focus on commercial dock and door services, supported by a strong operational platform and a broad market presence.

Nico Delvaux, President and CEO of ASSA ABLOY, welcomed Sentinel to the Group and said the acquisition is aligned with ASSA ABLOY’s strategy to strengthen its position in mature markets through complementary products and solutions. He noted that Sentinel adds capabilities that support the company’s core business and long-term growth direction.

Massimo Grassi, Executive Vice President of ASSA ABLOY and Head of the Entrance Systems Division, said Sentinel will significantly strengthen the Group’s direct channel presence, particularly in service, while broadening its footprint across Canada. He added that Sentinel’s service-focused business model and established operational structure provide a strong platform for accelerating growth in the Canadian market.

Sentinel will become part of Business Segment Industrial within ASSA ABLOY’s Entrance Systems Division. The acquisition strengthens the division’s ability to serve commercial and industrial customers with dock and door solutions, while reinforcing its service capabilities in a market where direct customer relationships and operational reliability are key.

For 2025, Sentinel reported sales of approximately MCAD 137, equivalent to about MSEK 960, with a good EBIT margin. ASSA ABLOY expects the acquisition to be accretive to earnings per share from the start.
