Siemens Energy Adds Camlin Group’s Asset Digitalization Expertise to Support Smarter Electricity Networks

(IN BRIEF) Siemens Energy has agreed to acquire Camlin Group, a Northern Ireland-based technology company specialising in grid monitoring, analytics and asset digitalization. The acquisition will strengthen Siemens Energy’s digital grid portfolio as utilities worldwide invest in smarter electricity networks to address aging infrastructure, rising electrification, load volatility and the integration of renewable energy. Camlin Group is headquartered in Lisburn, employs around 650 people, operates across several global markets and generated more than £90 million in revenue. Its technologies support sensor-based monitoring, data analytics, predictive maintenance and software-enabled grid intelligence. Siemens Energy plans to wholly own Camlin while allowing it to remain independently managed, ensuring continuity for customers and retaining its leadership team. The transaction, subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to close before the end of 2026 and supports Siemens Energy’s strategy to expand its capabilities in digital grids and condition-based asset operation.

(PRESS RELEASE) BERLIN/LISBURN, 2-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Siemens Energy has signed an agreement to acquire Camlin Group, a Northern Ireland-based specialist in grid monitoring, analytics and asset digitalization technologies, in a move that will strengthen its digital grid portfolio and expand its capabilities in software-enabled network intelligence. The acquisition comes as electricity systems worldwide face rising demand for real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance and smarter grid management amid growing electrification and renewable energy integration.

Camlin Group, headquartered in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, employs around 650 people and operates across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. The company generated revenue of more than £90 million and has grown from its founding in 2010 by a small group of engineers into an international technology business serving energy and rail systems.

Through the transaction, Siemens Energy will add Camlin’s expertise in sensor-based monitoring, data analytics and asset digitalization to its existing grid technologies portfolio. The combination is designed to help utilities and grid operators improve visibility across their networks, detect faults more quickly, monitor asset health and move toward more data-driven operational models.

Power grids are under increasing strain as aging infrastructure, fluctuating electricity loads and the rapid connection of renewable energy sources create more complex operating conditions. Siemens Energy sees digitalization as a critical tool for helping customers manage these challenges while improving reliability, resilience and efficiency across electricity networks.

Tim Holt, Member of the Executive Board of Siemens Energy, said grid expansion and digitalization are becoming decisive factors for energy security, economic growth and the energy transition. He said Siemens Energy is continuously strengthening and expanding its portfolio to adapt to a changing market, and described Camlin Group as a company known for high-quality products, a skilled workforce and advanced software capabilities. Together, the two companies aim to help customers shift from reactive maintenance to condition-based operations supported by data.

Camlin Group will become wholly owned by Siemens Energy but will continue to be managed independently. Siemens Energy said the arrangement will allow Camlin to maintain business continuity for customers while benefiting over time from Siemens Energy’s scale, investment capacity and global reach.

Peter Cunningham, CEO of Camlin Group, said the agreement reflects a strong alignment in values, technology and long-term vision. He noted that Siemens Energy recognises Camlin’s technology, people and customer relationships, and sees the company as a natural fit within its strategy for the future grid. He added that customers should expect business operations to continue as usual, with Camlin’s experienced leadership team remaining in place.

The acquisition supports Siemens Energy’s strategy of strengthening and broadening its portfolio in areas that are increasingly important to the energy transition. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close before the end of 2026.

Siemens Energy is one of the world’s leading energy technology companies, with a portfolio covering much of the energy value chain, from power and heat generation to transmission and storage. The company employs around 105,000 people in more than 90 countries and generated revenue of €39.1 billion in fiscal year 2025.
