(PRESS RELEASE) VIENNA, 1-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — UniCredit Bank Austria will host a free jazz matinee with musicians from the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra at Bank Austria Park in Vienna on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The event will take place from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Bank Austria Park, An der Oberen Alten Donau 105, 1210 Vienna, under the cultural sponsorship motto “Art Unlimited – Top-class art for everyone.”

The concert will feature the “Symphonic Jazz Project,” a jazz ensemble drawn from the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra and led by percussionist Friedrich Philipp-Pesendorfer, also known as Flip Philipp. Admission will be free, and food trucks will be available on site for visitors wishing to purchase food and drinks during the event.

The programme will present jazz arrangements of celebrated orchestral works, opera pieces and musical theatre classics. Audiences can expect a varied musical journey that moves from the dramatic sound world of Thus Spoke Zarathustra to famous operatic highlights such as “Va, Pensiero,” “La donna è mobile” and “Nessun dorma.”

The performance will also include well-known melodies from West Side Story, the “Habanera” from Carmen, the energetic Can-Can from Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Ravel’s Boléro, all reimagined in virtuoso arrangements for the open-air setting at Bank Austria Park.

Ivan Vlaho, CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria, said the bank is proud to serve as the new general sponsor of the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra. He said the partnership forms part of a reorganisation and expansion of the bank’s cultural sponsorship activities, with a focus on making high-quality cultural experiences accessible to wider audiences.

Vlaho said Bank Austria’s new cultural sponsorship principle is to support top-class art for everyone and world-class art for a broad public. The Jazz Picnic reflects this approach by offering a low-threshold, high-quality concert experience in an open and welcoming environment.

The partnership with the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra builds on the orchestra’s longstanding role in Vienna’s cultural life. With around 180 concerts each season, the orchestra helps shape the musical identity of the Austrian capital and connects the city’s classical heritage with contemporary and future-oriented performance formats.

Alongside its major concert series at the Wiener Konzerthaus and Musikverein, the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra also performs regularly at unusual and accessible venues across Vienna. These formats are designed to bring orchestral music closer to residents and make cultural participation easier for a broader public.

As part of the cooperation, UniCredit Bank Austria and the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra are supporting a series of concert formats focused on cultural access. These include the “Beisl” concerts around Yppenplatz in Ottakring on May 13, 2026, where ensembles from the orchestra performed in venues across Vienna’s 16th district with free admission and an informal atmosphere.

The Jazz Picnic at Bank Austria Park on June 14 will be followed by the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra’s Prater Picnic on July 1 and 2, 2026, on Kaiserwiese in Prater, featuring Ilia Staple, Rolando Villazón, Teya and Holly Hyun Choe. ORF 2 is scheduled to broadcast the concert on Friday, July 3.

Another highlight of the partnership will be Vienna Advent on December 16, 2026, at St Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, featuring Christiane Karg, Lucas van Lierop and Elim Chan. ORF III is scheduled to broadcast the concert on the fourth Sunday of Advent at 8:15 pm.

Through these initiatives, UniCredit Bank Austria and the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra aim to strengthen cultural participation in Vienna and make high-quality music available to audiences beyond traditional concert halls.
