02-8-2013 — /EuropaWire/ — AREVA has been selected by the consortium of GDF SUEZ – EDP Renewables as the exclusive turbine supplier for the second offshore wind call for tender in France.
This call for tender plans for the installation of 1 000 MW of total capacity in the zones of Tréport (Upper Normandy Region) and the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier (Pays-de-Loire Region).
The choice of AREVA’s offshore wind technology by GDF SUEZ – EDP Renewables capitalises on the group’s recognized experience, including the turbines at the Alpha Ventus wind farm (North Sea) that have been in operation since 2009.
With this unparalleled return on experience and 600 MW currently being installed, AREVA confirms its position as a major industrial player at the head of the French offshore wind industry.
« We are pleased to have been selected by the consortium of GDF SUEZ – EDP Renewables. Coupled with the experience of these partners, the AREVA wind turbine will successfully address the technical, financial, industrial, social, and environmental criteria defined by the government in order to win the second call for tender,” declared Luc Oursel, President and CEO of AREVA.
