7-2-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — On 3 January 2013, Swissgrid and the previous owners reached a significant milestone in Switzerland’s power history: the Swiss transmission grid was successfully transferred to Swissgrid. To duly celebrate this occasion, Swissgrid organised an evening event on 29 January 2013 in Zurich. Swissgrid was especially honoured to welcome Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard as a guest speaker.
In her speech, Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard praised the transfer of the Swiss transmission grid as an important entrepreneurial step. At the same time, she pointed to areas in which action is necessary in order to prevent the star of Laufenburg from dwindling away into an historical memory and to successfully introduce the Swiss grid into the new European domestic energy market:
