8-5-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — An expert hearing on plans to open up the EU’s national rail passenger markets to competition will be held by the Transport and Tourism Committee on Tuesday. Experts representing passengers, rail workers, operators and infrastructure managers will debate how best to allocate public service contracts, improve service quality, make national networks more easily interoperable and ensure decent working conditions.
After presentations on Tuesday morning and afternoon, MEPs will quiz the experts and interest groups on modernisation plans and expected improvements in safety and service quality, but also on working conditions and public service obligations.
Watch the public hearing online from 9.00-12.30 and 15.00-17.00 via EP live.
