Afyonkarahisar, Turkey, 18-3-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Start of construction on the new shopping center in the heart of the western Anatolian city Afyonkarahisar: With the completion of the excavation works, the rough construction of the 86 million Euro project started at the beginning of March. 160 specialist stores including a hypermarket, an electronic market, and a department store, are planned on four floors. The center will also offer a children entertainment area, an ice-skating rink, a movie theater with ten screens as well as a food-court with a seating capacity for 2,000 people. The center will comprise a leasable area of approximately 42,000m2. Furthermore, 1,150 parking spaces will be available to the customers coming to the center by car. The opening of the shopping center is scheduled for fall 2015.
At the same time, the name for the shopping center was revealed in the course of a campaign with the participation of the inhabitants of Afyon “Park Afyon” was chosen from 1,600 alternative names.
Park Afyon is being constructed on the former bus terminal premises of the city of Afyonkarahisar. The center has a very good accessibility by car and on foot and is also very well connected to public transportation network. Park Afyon has a catchment area comprising approx. 700.000 inhabitants.
ECE Türkiye is responsible for the leasing, conceptual design and the long-term management of the Shopping Center.
