Destatis: total of 36,900 accidents occurred under the influence of alcohol during 2013 in Germany

WIESBADEN, 29-12-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Following Ascension Day (Father’s Day), New Year’s Day 2013 was the day of the year when most alcohol-related road traffic accidents occurred. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that, on the first day of the new year, the police recorded 244 accidents with at least one person involved being under the influence of alcohol. On average in 2013, there were 101 alcohol-related accident per day. A total of 36,900 accidents occurred under the influence of alcohol.
