WIESBADEN, 02-Aug-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — The debt owed by the overall public budget (Federation, Länder, municipalities/associations of municipalities and social security funds, including all extra budgets) to the non-public sector amounted to 2,022.6 billion euros at the end of 2015. Based on final results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that debt decreased by 1.0% (21.4 billion euros) compared with the revised results as at 31 December 2014. The non-public sector comprises credit institutions and the remaining domestic (for instance private businesses) and non-domestic sector. Due to European requirements, the debt of all holding corporations of the general government sector has been included in the debt figures as from 2015.
