WIESBADEN, 22-12-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — In autumn 2014, farmers in Germany sowed winter grain on 5.56 million hectares of land for the next harvest of 2015. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the area cultivated with winter grain for the 2015 harvest is larger (+128,000 hectares or +2%) than the relevant area in 2014. The increase in winter grain cultivation is in particular due to larger areas cultivated with winter wheat and winter barley.
