WIESBADEN, 21-8-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — In 2014, the number of live births in Germany was 715,000. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 33,000 newborn children, or 4.8%, compared with 2013 (682,000).
The last time that more than 700,000 children were born in Germany was in 2004.
As 868,000 people died in 2014, the number of deaths was down 2.8% on the previous year (2013: 894,000).
386,000 couples married in 2014.
