First vertical steel column raised for A320 Family Assembly Line in Mobile, Alabama
Blagnac, 17-9-2013 — /EuropaWire/ — Following the completion of the ground work to prepare the Brookley Aeroplex site for building construction, Airbus’ A320 Family Assembly Line began taking shape as the first steel column was raised to a vertical position. The steel support, rising 100 feet into the air, is the first of many that will form the frame for the Final Assembly Building.
A320 Family aircraft assembly is planned to start in Mobile in 2015, with first deliveries from the Mobile facility beginning in 2016. Airbus anticipates the facility will produce between 40 and 50 aircraft per year by 2018.
