18-6-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — Cassidian has signed a contract with CETC-7 Ltd. (China Electronic Science and Technology Group Corporation No.7 Research Institute) to build a shared TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) communication network for the Nanjing municipal government in China. CETC-7 Ltd. is the system integrator of the network, which will allow comprehensive secure communication services during the Asian Youth Games in 2013 and the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2014, both of which will be held in Nanjing.
As the capital of Jiangsu province, Nanjing is one of the biggest and most important cities in China, situated as it is in one of the country’s largest economic zones. The new TETRA network will be equipped with Cassidian’s state-of-the-art TETRA IP technologies and equipment including: one DXT3 switch, 25 TB3 base stations, 900 THR880i terminals and a dispatcher workstation system in the first phase. The final set-up will cover an area of about 6,600 km2 in the city of Nanjing, thereby improving its security and management for the benefit of more than eight million people there.
Thanks to its globally recognised experience as a PMR (Professional Mobile Radio) provider for secure communications during large events, such as the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games and the Shenzhen 2011 Summer Universiade Games, Cassidian has become a preferred supplier for TETRA solutions in China. “We are proud of this contract. It demonstrates the confidence of our customers in Cassidian’s capability in providing secure and reliable systems. We are committed to applying our technical know-how in digital trunked networks for the benefit of the new TETRA system in Nanjing,” said Olivier Koczan, Head of Sales of Secure Communication Solutions in Cassidian.
