Berne, 28-2-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — BKW Inc. today definitively acquired a 56-MW wind farm in Castellenata (Apulia, Italy). The purchase agreement between BKW and the Tozzi industrial group, which stipulated contract completion once the wind farm was built, was signed at the end of April 2012. The parties agreed not to disclose details of the purchase price. The acquisition enhances BKW’s position as a leading Swiss operator of wind farms in Switzerland and abroad.
Castellaneta is located in the windy region of Apulia, where BKW’s other Italian wind farms are also situated. Thanks to investments totalling more than a billion Swiss francs, acquisition of the wind farm in Castellaneta now gives BKW an operational wind power portfolio with an installed capacity of around 400 MW and an annual production volume of close to 800 million kWh. BKW currently operates 211 wind turbines in total: 85 in Germany (145 MW), 110 in Italy (225 MW) and 16 in Switzerland (22 MW).
