Madrid, Spain, 26-11-2013 — /EuropaWire/ — The chairman of Bankia, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, and the chairman of Fundación Caja Rioja, Juan Antonio Fernández-Velilla, have signed an agreement by which Bankia contributes 800,000 euros to support the activities of Fundación Caja Rioja over the next two years and collaborates in the activities carried out in the foundation’s Social and Cultural Centres in Logroño (Gran Vía and La Merced), Alfaro, Arnedo, Calahorra, Nájera, Haro and Santo Domingo de la Calzada.
Through this financial contribution Bankia maintains its commitment to La Rioja and channels part of its corporate responsibility activities through Fundación Caja Rioja. The Bank will collaborate with the foundation to promote and support activities carried out in the Social and Cultural Centres at local level throughout the region.
Bankia considers these centres a suitable means to promote social cohesion through activities such as educational support for children at risk of exclusion, drug abuse prevention programmes and, most especially, continuing business and professional training for all kinds of organisations in La Rioja.
The chairmen of both organisations voiced their satisfaction at the signing of this important agreement, which will allow a significant number of social activities in La Rioja to be maintained.
