Alpiq sold its 4.5% share in the European Energy Exchange AG (EEX)

LAUSANNE, 21-12-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — Alpiq has sold its 4.5 %-share in the European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) to the EEX. Alpiq will use the proceeds from the sale to further reduce net debt. Alpiq is continuing to consistently implement the Group’s transformation.

Alpiq transferred the 4.5 % EEX share to the EEX on 17 December. The parties have agreed not to disclose the sales price.

The EEX with registered office in Leipzig was established in 2002 as a result of the merger of the German power exchanges in Frankfurt and Leipzig. Since then the EEX has evolved from a local power exchange into a leading energy trading platform in Europe.
