ABP’s Port of Immingham recognised as the Best Dry Bulk Port at the International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards

LONDON, 27-Nov-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — ABP’s Port of Immingham has been globally recognised as the Best Dry Bulk Port after winning the prestigious accolade at the International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards.

The Immingham Bulk Park (IBP) which offers a premium dry bulks operation for its customers, with an impressive 1.5 million square feet of undercover storage, won the award ahead of other ports based in Hamburg, Kokkola in Finland and Abu Dhabi.

ABP employees were proud to receive the award at the dazzling event with over 500 attendees. The ceremony was organised by IBJ, the dry bulk industry magazine, and this year it was hosted at the Eskimo Fabriek (Eskimo Factory) in Ghent, Belgium.

Immingham Bulk Park can handle any conceivable type of dry bulk cargo, from bagged or loose fertiliser, to pumice or soya. The site, which benefits from regular investment from ABP, is continually improving and in peak production, is capable of bagging 3,000 tonnes of fertiliser a day – the only place in the UK with that capability.

The world-class site provides vital services for farms across the Humber region and beyond, helping to grow local produce, aid our nation’s farmers and ultimately feed families across the country.

Mark Frith, Port Manager for ABP Immingham, attended the ceremony. He said: “Given the hugely impressive international competition Immingham was up against, this award demonstrates just how important our facility in the Humber is for the bulks sector. It’s a huge vote of confidence in our operations and is down to the terrific partnership that has been established between our staff, management and customers.”
