Suparma Selects ANDRITZ to Deliver Advanced Reject Treatment System Enhancing Sustainability in Indonesian Paper Mill

(IN BRIEF) P.T. Suparma Tbk has awarded ANDRITZ a contract to supply a complete coarse reject treatment system for its paper mill in Surabaya, Indonesia, with start-up planned for the third quarter of 2026. The system will process mixed reject streams from recycled fiber production, using technologies such as the ReCo compactor and ADuro P shredder to improve efficiency, reduce waste volumes, and ensure consistent output quality. Designed to handle complex material streams, the solution enhances operational stability while lowering environmental impact and energy consumption. The project reflects Suparma’s commitment to sustainable production and strengthens ANDRITZ’s position as a leading supplier of recycling solutions in Southeast Asia’s pulp and paper industry.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 6-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — P.T. Suparma Tbk has selected ANDRITZ to deliver a comprehensive coarse reject treatment system for its recycled fiber-based paper mill located in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. The project highlights Suparma’s focus on enhancing environmental performance and operational efficiency, while reinforcing ANDRITZ’s role as a key provider of advanced recycling solutions in Southeast Asia. The system is scheduled to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2026.

The installation is designed to process coarse reject materials generated by the mill’s drum pulping line, which typically include a mixture of plastics and other contaminants. To manage these heterogeneous streams effectively, the solution integrates advanced technologies that optimize processing and reduce environmental impact.

Central to the system is the ReCo reject compactor, which enables efficient mechanical dewatering and significantly reduces the volume of material requiring further handling. Complementing this is the ADuro P shredder, engineered to deliver consistent and reliable size reduction even when processing contaminant-rich materials. This ensures a uniform input stream for subsequent metal separation and final reject treatment stages.

By combining these technologies within a dry-process configuration, the system simplifies material handling and supports stable, high-quality output. It also contributes to improved operational reliability, enhanced fraction purity, and lower energy consumption. Overall, the solution aligns with ANDRITZ’s strategic focus on advancing circular production processes and improving resource efficiency in industrial operations.

Joseph Sulaiman, Director at Suparma, emphasized that improving reject handling is a key step toward strengthening the mill’s environmental performance and maintaining stable operations. He highlighted the value of ANDRITZ’s technical expertise and the proven reliability of its solutions, expressing confidence in the long-term benefits of the project.

This contract represents another milestone for ANDRITZ in Indonesia, further strengthening its presence in the region’s pulp and paper sector. It also reflects continued demand for advanced recycling technologies that support sustainable production practices. Financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed, but the order has been included in ANDRITZ’s intake for the first quarter of 2026.
