Atos Expands Sports Innovation Role Through CONMEBOL eLibertadores and South American Football Digital Ecosystem

(IN BRIEF) Atos has supported the CONMEBOL eLibertadores, one of the world’s most recognised football eSports competitions, as part of its role in helping CONMEBOL develop more interactive and digital-first fan experiences. The initiative builds on the strategic partnership established in December 2025, when Atos became the Official Innovation Partner for CONMEBOL’s club competitions. Through this partnership, Atos is contributing to a next-generation digital ecosystem that includes websites and mobile applications designed to improve accessibility, unify competition experiences and support stronger fan interaction. The CONMEBOL eLibertadores, part of the EA SPORTS FC Pro World Championship ecosystem, concluded its 2026 edition with finals at Gamescom Latam in São Paulo, reflecting the growing importance of eSports in football and the rise of digital fan culture. Atos helped integrate live data, editorial content and interactive features into unified platforms, enabling more personalised engagement while giving sports organisations new ways to understand audience behaviour and explore emerging forms of digital entertainment and broadcasting. The project reinforces Atos’ position as a long-term technology and innovation partner for major sports organisations.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 28-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Atos has supported the CONMEBOL eLibertadores, one of the world’s leading football eSports competitions, helping the South American Football Confederation create new digital-first experiences for fans at the intersection of football, gaming and technology.

The project reflects the growing importance of eSports as football organisations look for new ways to engage younger, digitally native and community-driven audiences. As fans increasingly seek experiences beyond traditional broadcasting, eSports is becoming an important platform for more interactive, immersive and participative forms of football engagement.

Through the CONMEBOL eLibertadores, Atos is working with CONMEBOL to support digital experiences built around real-time interaction, accessibility and community participation. The initiative is part of a wider shift in sport toward platforms that allow fans to connect more directly with competitions, content and live event moments.

The collaboration builds on the strategic partnership announced in December 2025, under which Atos became the Official Innovation Partner for CONMEBOL’s club competitions. Through this agreement, Atos is contributing to the development of a next-generation digital ecosystem for CONMEBOL, including new websites and mobile applications intended to enhance fan interaction, improve accessibility and bring digital experiences across competitions into a more unified environment.

The CONMEBOL eLibertadores forms part of the EA SPORTS FC Pro World Championship ecosystem and has become one of the most prominent football eSports competitions globally. The 2026 edition concluded with finals held at Gamescom Latam in São Paulo on 2 and 3 May, highlighting the growing maturity of football eSports and the rapid expansion of digital fan culture worldwide.

The digital ecosystem developed with Atos enabled the integration of live data, editorial content and interactive features across unified platforms. This allowed fans to engage with competitions in a more direct, personalised and interactive way, while also giving sports organisations better tools to understand audience behaviour and explore new forms of digital entertainment and broadcasting.

Nacho Moros, Head of Atos Major Events, said football is broadening its reach and increasingly engaging younger audiences through eSports, which has become one of the fastest-growing ways for clubs to connect with supporters. He noted that eSports now sits at the crossroads of advanced technologies and has developed into a recognised discipline, with competitors delivering performances that can reflect the skills and excitement associated with real-world football.

Through its work with CONMEBOL, Atos is reinforcing its role as a trusted innovation partner for sports organisations seeking to design digital experiences that are more immersive, scalable and connected. The collaboration demonstrates how major football bodies can use technology to build deeper relationships with fans while adapting to changing media consumption habits and digital entertainment trends.

Atos has operated a dedicated Sports and Major Events division for more than 30 years, delivering mission-critical technology solutions for major global sporting events. The company’s experience spans competitions of different scales, from local events to major international showcases, and supports its ability to provide flexible, high-performance digital infrastructure for sports organisations.

In addition to its role with CONMEBOL, Atos has served as UEFA’s Official IT Partner for National Team Football since late 2022 and maintains long-standing relationships with several international sports organisations. Its partnership with CONMEBOL focuses on supporting innovation across South American football’s domestic club competitions and developing digital platforms that strengthen fan engagement across a region known for its deep passion for the sport.
