MAN Truck & Bus Debuts at Busworld Southeast Asia With Chassis Solutions Tailored for Indonesia’s Growing Bus Market

(IN BRIEF) MAN Truck & Bus made its debut at Busworld Southeast Asia 2026 in Jakarta, presenting its MAN Lion’s Chassis CO (RR4) and a MAN-based double-decker bus developed for the Indonesian market. Together with local sales partner Inframach and Indonesian bodybuilder New Armada, MAN demonstrated how its chassis technology can be combined with regional bodybuilding expertise to create market-ready bus solutions tailored to local needs. The company is pursuing a chassis-body strategy outside Europe, selling bus chassis that certified local manufacturers convert into vehicles for specific markets and operating conditions. Indonesia is viewed as one of Southeast Asia’s most important growth markets for bus and passenger transport, supported by infrastructure expansion, rising mobility demand and tourism growth. MAN’s showcase highlighted the flexibility of the Lion’s Chassis CO platform, which can support applications from long-distance travel and tourism to premium passenger services, while offering advanced safety features for drivers and passengers. The trade fair appearance also strengthens MAN’s cooperation with Inframach and supports the company’s wider ambition to expand its bus business across Indonesia and the ASEAN region.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 28-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — MAN Truck & Bus has made its first appearance at Busworld Southeast Asia in Jakarta, presenting high-quality chassis-based bus solutions as part of its strategy to expand the company’s international bus business beyond Europe.

Together with its local sales partner Inframach, MAN showcased its bus technology at the trade fair, held from 20 to 22 May 2026. The presentation focused on the MAN Lion’s Chassis CO (RR4) and a double-decker bus built on the same platform for the Indonesian market.

The double-decker bus, developed using MAN chassis technology and local bodybuilding expertise, was one of the key attractions at the event. The vehicle demonstrates how MAN’s engineering platform can be combined with regional manufacturing capabilities to deliver market-specific solutions for customers in Southeast Asia.

Robert Katzer, Head of Sales and Product Bus at MAN Truck & Bus, said the vehicle is a strong example of the successful combination of MAN technology and local bodybuilding expertise. He noted that MAN’s debut at one of Southeast Asia’s leading regional bus trade shows marks an important step in strengthening the company’s presence in Indonesia and across the ASEAN region.

While MAN manufactures and sells complete buses in Europe, its international bus strategy is focused mainly on chassis sales. In markets outside Europe, certified local bodybuilders use MAN chassis as the foundation for buses tailored to local customer needs, regulations and operating conditions. This chassis-body model gives MAN greater flexibility in responding to regional requirements while supporting growth in emerging markets worldwide.

Indonesia is one of Southeast Asia’s most important bus and passenger transport markets. The expansion of transport infrastructure, rising demand for mobility and continued growth in tourism are increasing the need for durable, modern and high-quality bus solutions. At the same time, operators are placing greater emphasis on safety, efficiency and passenger comfort.

Katzer said MAN’s participation at Busworld Southeast Asia is an important step toward building a stronger and more sustainable bus business in the region. He added that the company’s proven chassis portfolio and strong local partnerships position MAN well to meet Indonesia’s growing demand for reliable and premium bus solutions.

MAN aims to strengthen its position in the Indonesian bus segment in close cooperation with Inframach. The company has already worked with Inframach for many years in the truck business, and the Busworld Southeast Asia presentation now marks a further step toward developing MAN’s bus activities in the region.

At the centre of MAN’s showcase was the three-axle MAN Lion’s Chassis CO (RR4), a flexible chassis platform designed for a wide range of bus body types and transport applications. The platform is suitable for uses including long-distance travel, tourism and premium passenger services.

Roland Kopp, Program Lead Bus Chassis at MAN Truck & Bus, said the Lion’s Chassis CO is designed to support different body configurations and can be adapted to local operating conditions and customer requirements. He also highlighted the platform’s focus on advanced safety features for passengers and drivers.

The MAN RR4-based double-decker bus displayed in Jakarta was bodied by New Armada, one of Indonesia’s leading bus body manufacturers. By presenting both the chassis and the completed vehicle, MAN demonstrated a fully market-ready solution for local long-distance and premium passenger transport needs. Double-decker buses are increasingly visible on long-distance routes across Indonesia, making the format especially relevant for the local market.

Kopp said the collaboration with Inframach and New Armada shows how MAN’s engineering capabilities can work together with local bodybuilding expertise. He described this type of partnership as central to MAN’s international growth ambitions.

Busworld Southeast Asia is considered a major regional platform for the bus and coach industry. The trade fair brings together manufacturers, bodybuilders, suppliers, transport operators and industry representatives to present new products and discuss trends shaping the sector, including electrification, safety technologies and future mobility solutions.

Through its debut in Jakarta, MAN Truck & Bus is reinforcing its chassis-body strategy for global markets while positioning itself to participate more strongly in the growth of Indonesia’s bus industry and the wider ASEAN passenger transport sector.
