SIX Appoints Bjørn Sibbern as Global Head of Exchanges and Executive Board Member

(IN BRIEF) Bjørn Sibbern, currently the Executive Vice President and President of European Markets at Nasdaq, has been appointed as the Global Head of Exchanges and a Member of the Executive Board of SIX. He will assume this position on January 1, 2024, replacing Christoph Landis, who served as interim head of the exchange business at SIX. Sibbern, a Danish citizen with over 20 years of experience in global exchanges, will oversee the Swiss and Spanish Exchanges at SIX and the digital exchange SDX. His expertise spans trading, funds, post-trade, listings, IPOs, data, index business, and technology. Sibbern’s appointment is expected to contribute significantly to SIX’s growth strategy.

(PRESS RELEASE) ZÜRICH, 22-Sep-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Bjørn Sibbern will head up the exchange business at SIX as a member of the SIX Executive Board (ExB) from 1st January 2024. He is a seasoned professional boasting an impressive track record of over 20 years operating in the global exchange arena for highly reputable institutions including Nasdaq. Bjørn Sibbern has experience managing large teams, with expertise in the fields of trading, funds, post-trade, listings, IPOs, data, index business and technology. He will be responsible for both the Swiss and Spanish Exchanges at SIX, as well as the digital exchange SDX.

Bjørn Sibbern, a Danish citizen, is currently serving as Executive Vice President and President of European Markets at Nasdaq. In this role, he leads Nasdaq markets and exchanges across Nordic and Baltic regions. He is also responsible for trading, listing, clearing, settlement and data businesses in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Iceland and the Baltic nations.

Prior to this, Bjørn Sibbern was Executive Vice President for Nasdaq’s Global Information Services (GIS), based in New York City, having previously led Nasdaq’s Global Commodities business and served as President of the Nasdaq Copenhagen Exchange. Earlier in his career, he managed Nasdaq’s Nordic Cash Equities and Derivatives Markets.

Before joining Nasdaq, he was Head of Trading at Stocknet Norway and CEO at E*TRADE Bank Denmark. He holds an Executive MBA, a Diploma in Business Administration and an MSc in Economics & Business Administration and Law from Copenhagen Business School.
