(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 12-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Rheinmetall is set to present a broad portfolio of defence and security technologies during the Black Sea Defense & Aerospace (BSDA) exhibition taking place in Bucharest from 13 to 15 May 2026. Under the theme “Freedom needs Enablers,” the German defence technology group will showcase systems and solutions spanning vehicle platforms, air defence, soldier systems, ammunition production and naval capabilities at stand C309.

One of the main attractions at the exhibition will be the Lynx KF41 infantry fighting vehicle, Rheinmetall’s next-generation combat platform designed for modern battlefield operations. The vehicle on display will feature the Lance turret equipped with the 30 mm MK30-2/ABM automatic cannon as its primary armament, along with the Main Sensor Slaved Armament (MSSA) weapon station. Rheinmetall says the Lynx platform is designed to support customised industrial cooperation models, including local manufacturing and technology transfer arrangements tailored to customer requirements.

The company will also place significant emphasis on ground-based air defence systems, an area receiving increased attention across NATO and European defence forces amid renewed focus on national and alliance security. At BSDA, Rheinmetall will present the 35 mm Oerlikon Revolver Gun Mk3 integrated within the Oerlikon Skynex Air Defence System. The modular system can be mounted on different truck platforms and is designed to provide highly mobile and scalable air defence capabilities.

Rheinmetall’s HX logistics vehicle family will also be featured during the exhibition. The HX series is designed for demanding off-road conditions and supports a wide variety of military logistics and tactical applications. The company highlights the vehicle family’s versatility, mobility and optional protection levels, which allow it to operate across different mission environments. An HX 3 model will be displayed at the event.

In the area of soldier modernisation, Rheinmetall will present the latest generation of its Gladius 2.0 soldier system. The platform is intended to digitally integrate individual soldiers into networked command and operational structures through advanced communications and battlefield management capabilities. Different variants of the system will be exhibited as part of the company’s focus on digitally connected combat operations.

A major component of Rheinmetall’s presentation will centre on ammunition manufacturing and defence industrial expansion. The company stated that it continues to expand its global munitions production network to support sovereign defence capabilities among NATO members and partner nations. Rheinmetall plans to increase its annual production capacity for 155 mm artillery ammunition to 1.1 million rounds by 2027, with further expansion to 1.5 million rounds annually planned by 2030.

In addition, the company aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 240,000 tank ammunition cartridges starting in 2027. Medium-calibre ammunition production is also expected to rise substantially, reaching 3.4 million cartridges annually by 2027 and 4 million by 2030. Rheinmetall says the expansion strategy is intended to strengthen supply security and ensure reliable access to critical defence materials for allied nations.

The exhibition will also highlight Rheinmetall’s expanding maritime capabilities following the acquisition of NVL. Through its Naval Systems division, led by NVL B.V. & Co. KG, the company now operates as a multi-domain systems provider with expertise in naval shipbuilding and maritime defence solutions. The division includes specialised shipyards in Hamburg, Wolgast and Wilhelmshaven, alongside international engineering and operational activities in countries including Egypt, Bulgaria, Croatia, Singapore and Brunei.

Rheinmetall’s Naval Systems division is involved in several procurement programmes for the German Navy and other NATO naval forces, focusing on technologically advanced naval and coast guard vessels. The company says the expanded division strengthens its ability to deliver integrated defence solutions across land, air and maritime domains.
